Job summary

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission's Inland Fisheries Division seeks a Fish Culturist (Wildlife Conserv Technician I) to produce and distribute warmwater and coldwater fishes at the McKinney Lake Hatchery in Hoffman, NC. The role requires hands-on hatchery work, equipment operation and maintenance, and the ability to work a 40-hour week with occasional nights, weekends, and travel.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the principles and techniques of fish culture or biology.
• Experience operating or maintaining hatchery equipment and tools.
• Experience constructing, maintaining, and repairing hatchery facilities.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Produce and distribute warmwater and coldwater fishes to meet program needs.
• Operate and maintain hatchery equipment, buildings, and related facilities.
• Work a Monday–Friday 40-hour schedule; occasional nights, weekends, or holidays.
• Overnight travel may be required on occasion.
