Job summary

New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM seeks an FYE Peer Mentor to support first-year students. You will create belonging, lead social and academic events, and provide tutoring outside class.

This on-campus position offers opportunities to develop leadership, communication, and mentoring skills while working within the Highlands Undergraduate Enrichment Office. As a part-time student employee, you will attend courses, maintain records, and collaborate with faculty and staff to promote

Qualifications

• College student enrolled at NMHU with at least 6 credit hours.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Some clerical/office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help ease the transition to college for first-year students by creating a welcoming community.
• Organize and lead social and academic events for first-year students.
• Provide mentoring services and tutoring support outside class.
• Attend sections of courses weekly and take notes.
• Plan and facilitate activities with students.
• Maintain records and ensure regular attendance.
