Job summary

The Highlands Undergraduate Enrichment (HUE) office at NMHU seeks an FYE LC Peer Mentor to support first-year students and build a welcoming campus community. You will lead social and academic events, tutor students outside class, and mentor peers across residence life and academic programs.

Responsibilities include attending sections, planning activities, maintaining records, and collaborating with faculty and advisers to help students succeed during Fall 2024 term at the Las Vegas campus.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: College student enrolled at NMHU with a minimum of six (6) credit hours; High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred Qualifications: Sophomore/Junior/Senior standing; 3.0 GPA or higher; strong motivation, initiative, and willingness to learn about NMHU community; excellent public speaking and time management; ability to relate to diverse backgrounds; strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a mentor to first-year students and help them transition to college.
• Develop relationships and provide assistance and support for first-year students.
• Attend assigned sections of courses and take notes; plan and facilitate activities.
• Maintain communication with faculty and advisers; organize and facilitate study groups.
• Maintain records and attendance; participate in team activities and committees.
