Nevada State University invites applications for the Student Worker - STAR Peer Mentor to support and encourage new First Year student success. Mentors help mentees navigate campus life, explain policies and available services, and share insights from their own experiences.

As a part-time STAR Peer Mentor, you will lead orientation activities, coordinate monthly programs, maintain records, refer mentees to resources, and model academic and professional behavior while upholding confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Must maintain a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
• Must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student with at least 6 credits.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
• Eagerness to guide and support a diverse student group.
• Creativity and personal initiative.
• Willingness to be a role model.

Responsibilities

• Help mentees feel welcome and connected to the NSU community and explain campus policies and services.
• Lead orientation and onboarding activities for new students.
• Organize campus events to promote the STAR program and engage participants.
• Provide ongoing support through mentoring meetings and monthly programs.
• Maintain mentee records and complete required reports.
