Job summary

The Suter Company in Illinois is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to support the Production Manager in daily operations. You will coordinate staff, manage resources, and implement schedules to meet output targets while maintaining food safety and quality standards.

Core hours are Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., with potential weekend work as needed. The role emphasizes safety, GMP/SOP compliance, training, and effective communication across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, plus 1–3 years of supervisory experience.
• General understanding of mechanical functions and maintenance issues
• Working knowledge of GMPs, SOPs, HACCP programs and regulatory requirements
• Computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Company database, Internet and email
• Project development, implementation, and management

Responsibilities

• Coordinate safety initiatives and processes (safety behavior, SOP and 5-S audits) and participate in safety plans.
• Monitor and control resources in the production process
• Ensure that team members and their performance are maintained through communication and training
• Prepare weekly meeting presentations and present content
• Conduct department tours for applicants
• Complete job closing per company standards
• Basic understanding and user comfort with technologies, such as tablets, required
