Commonwealth of VA Careers seeks an experienced Unit Nurse Manager to lead a 1st shift team of RNs, LPNs and PCTs at Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute in Danville, VA. The role focuses on delivering high-quality psychiatric care to adults 18–64 in a structured environment.

The incumbent will supervise nursing operations, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and ensure comprehensive handoffs, documentation, and patient safety with trauma-informed care.

Qualifications

• Current and in good standing RN license to practice in Virginia.
• Graduation from an accredited RN program.
• Experience in psychiatric nursing.
• Prior supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of RNs, LPNs, and PCTs in providing nursing care to adult psychiatric patients (18–64).
• Provide trauma-informed psychiatric care and coordinate with multidisciplinary team.
• Oversee patient care from admission through discharge and supervise nursing staff on 1st shift.
