Job summary

UFP Thornton, LLC is seeking a Production Department Supervisor to oversee daily operations across multiple departments and shifts in California. The role focuses on training staff, improving productivity, and ensuring safety and cost controls.

You will develop methods and lead continuous improvement initiatives under supervision of a manager. Responsibilities include coaching employees, managing inventory and costs, and maintaining reports.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing.
• 1–3 years of experience managing people.
• Ability to set up and manage agendas with clear timeframes.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Knowledge of CI, 5S and TPM programs.
• Safety-first mindset and adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities

• Oversee production operations across multiple departments and shifts.
• Lead a team to maximize productivity and maintain safety.
• Identify and resolve production problems and opportunities.
• Evaluate performance and provide coaching and feedback.
• Manage department costs, profitability, and inventory.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Prepare reports and maintain records; participate in safety committees.
• Perform duties with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Operate forklift and support material movement when needed.
