Job summary

The University of Iowa is seeking a Medical Lab Technician for North Liberty Hospital to perform clinical lab testing and analysis across routine to high complexity levels. The role supports diagnosis and treatment by providing accurate results, with a Monday–Friday schedule 0800–1630 and occasional on-call coverage.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's or MLT credential and excellent written and verbal communication. A sign-on incentive of $5,000 is available based on experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical/biological/clinical lab science or medical technology from an accredited program.
• MLT certification or eligible through ASCP or NCA.
• Military medical lab training course of 50 weeks; held Medical Laboratory Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses on lab specimens.
• Provide method information and interpretation to healthcare providers.
• Investigate quality assurance issues and recommend actions.
• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation.
• Assist in reagent comparisons and cost-improvement activities.
• Maintain inventory and order supplies.
• Comply with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
