Job summary
Dover Precision Components, a Dover Corporation unit, is seeking a 1st Shift Manual Machinist in Houston. You will read process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine machining, select tooling, and set up machines for precise metal work.
The role requires capability to calculate feeds and speeds and verify measurements, with lean principles applied to improve throughput. The position offers a 6:00 am to 2:30 pm schedule, potential discretionary bonus, and a path for skilled growth within
Qualifications
- One year certificate from college or technical school, or three to six months related experience
- Proven ability to hold tight machining tolerances (< 0.001 in)
- Experience with precision inspection equipment is preferred
Responsibilities
- Read, process sheets, blueprints and sketches to determine machining and setup requirements
- Identify, select and install proper tooling for operations
- Calculate feeds and speeds for different steels and metals
- Set up measuring equipment and verify calibration
- Maintain lean manufacturing principles to reduce setup times and improve productivity
