Job summary

Leggett & Platt is seeking a Machine Operator to cut foam to customer specifications. You will report to the shift lead, measure blocks, and ensure accurate sizes while supporting unloading and machine operations.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and the ability to read a tape measure. Prior attention to detail and safety are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read a tape measure and measure blocks accurately.
• Ability to operate basic computer functions as part of shift tasks.

• Attention to detail in cutting and sizing foam.

Responsibilities

• Report to the lead person at the start of each shift to determine what needs to be cut.
• Check tags and measure each block before cutting to ensure correct sizes.
• Assist unloading machines when needed.
• Re-measure after cutting to confirm proper size per ticket.
• Assist others in pulling usable blocks from the wall.
• Mark blocks with size and foam type when placed on the wall.
• Change blades as needed with gloves; follow safety procedures.
• Maintain clean housekeeping in shipping area.
• Cut foam using spec sheets.
• Run and operate all machines in the department.
• Cross-train as new machines are introduced; train new employees as needed.
