Job summary

Loyola University Chicago is seeking an Academic Advisor within the Office of First and Second Year Advising (FSYA) to provide holistic academic guidance to a caseload of freshmen and sophomores. You will assist with major discernment, course planning, and degree requirements in alignment with Jesuit education principles.

The role involves in-person and remote advising, maintaining student records, and supporting department campaigns and events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in College Student Personnel, Counseling or related field required.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team of academic advisors.
• Understanding of Jesuit education and core curriculum.
• Evening and weekend availability may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic academic advising for first- and second-year undergraduates.
• Assist with major discernment, course selection, and degree planning.
• Maintain accurate student records per department processes.
• Support campaigns and events under FSYA and Student Success initiatives.
• Participate in committees and contribute to advising methodology improvements.
