Job summary

Loyola University Chicago is seeking an Academic Advisor for the Office of First and Second Year Advising to provide holistic academic guidance to a caseload of first- and second-year students, focusing on major discernment, course selection, and degree requirements.

The role engages FERPA-compliant communication, collaboration with faculty and families, and participation in campaigns and committees to support student success and timely graduation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in College Student Personnel, Counseling or related field required and one to two years of related experience.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work some evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

• The Academic Advisor provides holistic academic advising for a caseload of first- and second-year undergraduate students on major discernment, course selection, requirements, and related issues.
• Meets with students 1:1 (in person and remotely) to discuss degree planning and academic goals within Jesuit education traditions.
• Responds to student inquiries via email within a standard 2-business-day timeframe and participates in advising initiatives.
• Oversees academic campaigns, maintains records, and supports successful transitions between FSYA and college/school advising offices.
• Participates in committees and working groups, supporting department initiatives and continuous improvement of advising methods.
