Job summary

Ascendo Resources’ client, a respected law firm focused on first-party property homeowners insurance litigation in the Houston area, seeks an Insurance Defense Attorney with 3+ years of litigation experience to join its team.

The attorney will manage cases from inception to resolution, handle depositions, pleadings, hearings, and develop strategy, with a compensation structure including base salary 140k-170k and 15% of new client revenue; flexible work options.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Licensed and in good standing with the Texas Bar.
• 3+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• First-party property/homeowners experience strongly preferred.
• Strong writing, advocacy, and case management skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters through all phases of litigation.
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Handle hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
• Develop litigation strategy and provide case evaluations.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and witnesses.
• Participate in business development initiatives and strengthen client relationships.
