Job summary

XKIG is seeking an experienced Overhead 1st Class worker for a full-time, on-site role in the Operations department. You will participate in constructing and maintaining overhead distribution systems across multiple locations and may travel to another state as needed.

The position requires 3–5 years of field experience, ability to lift heavy loads, and willingness to work overtime. You will operate safely around energized power lines and follow company safety rules on job sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of recent field experience.
• Willing to work overtime when requested.
• Willingness to glove/live high voltage power lines.
• Lift more than 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of inspecting rubber goods and PPE.

Responsibilities

• Lead crew members in the absence of the Foreman.
• Set poles and anchors.
• Install transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot trouble in primary and secondary systems.
• Replace cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits and systems.
• Frequently work with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
• Perform rigorous physical labor.
• Can identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit.
• Must be familiar with induced voltage.
• Understand grounding procedures.
• Work at heights or confined spaces.
• Install and remove PPE and cover up.
• Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel) and have the necessary tools to do so.
• Must understand how to phase out a line using phasing sticks.
• Plan safe work based on a job print or work order.
• Understand how to obtain a one shot on a recloser.
• Can conduct a pre-job or tailgate briefing.
• Can safely perform a reconductoring job.
• Safely install and remove mechanical jumpers.
• Understand how to use a load bust tool.
• Does all other related work to complete the job.
• Can work outside, frequently in inclement weather conditions.
