Job summary

SEPTA in Philadelphia seeks a Buildings Millwright - First Class to inspect, disassemble, repair and replace electro-mechanical equipment across cranes, hoists, tanks, elevators, escalators, pumps and more. The role requires hands-on electrical and mechanical repair skills and strict safety adherence.

Candidates must be a high school graduate, hold a PA driver’s license, and have at least three years of relevant full-time experience; trade school can substitute for up to one year.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Must have PA driver’s license or equivalent.
• Three years of full-time work in mechanical and pneumatic equipment repair.
• Trade school coursework may substitute for up to one year of experience.
• Experience with cutting and threading pipe up to 2 inches is required.
• Must pass pre-employment and performance tests.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, disassemble, repair, or replace mechanical equipment (cranes, hoists, elevators, pumps, etc.).
• Locate electrical trouble and diagnose using testing devices; perform electrical repairs.
• Manufacture and repair parts linked to safe operation of equipment.
• Erect scaffolding and perform rigging as required.
• Adhere to safety policies and report hazards.
