Job summary

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) seeks Buildings Millwright - First Class. The starting pay is $38.4102 and increases to $42.6780 after 12 months of service.

Inspects, disassembles, repairs and replaces electro-mechanical equipment and makes mechanical and electrical repairs on cranes, hoists, vehicle washers, tanks, elevators, escalators, pumps, air compressors, turnstile equipment, overhead doors and related equipment.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years relevant full-time work experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and pneumatic equipment.
• Trade school curriculum may substitute for up to one year of work experience.
• Experience in cutting and threading pipe up to two inches in diameter.
• Must pass pre-employment and performance tests.
• Knowledge of regulatory agency codes and requirements.
• Must possess or obtain hand tools as designated by the position's tool list.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, disassemble, repair, or replace mechanical equipment such as cranes, hoists, vehicles, tanks, elevators, escalators, pumps, air compressors, turnstile equipment, overhead doors, etc.
• Erect scaffolding and perform rigging as required.
• Locate electrical trouble and diagnose with testing devices; repair electrical troubles in electro-mechanical equipment.
• Fabricate and repair parts such as bushings, bearings, pulleys, gears, belts, gaskets, etc., for safe operation of equipment.
• Follow safety policies and report hazards; promote safety among others.
