Job summary

BJC HealthCare at Barnes Jewish Hospital is seeking a capable First Assistant Surgical Technologist to support surgeons in the operating room. You will perform selected technical duties in an expanded perioperative role under the surgeon's direction, delivering intraoperative care as part of a collaborative team.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited First Assistant Surgical Technologist program, and CSTFA or CSFA certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have completed an accredited First Assistant Surgical Technologist Program.
• Must have CSTFA or CSFA certification.
• Preferred: Associate's Degree.
• Experience: <2 years; 2-5 years of experience as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Delivers intraoperative patient care as the first assistant to the surgeon(s) as a collaborative team member.
• Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team.
• Functions as a member of the surgical team and contribute to the overall efficiency of the perioperative department.
• Participates in professional development and life-long learning.
