Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Surgical Tech First Assistant who will work under a Registered Nurse and Surgeon to support major surgical procedures. The role requires CST or CSFA certification and at least 2 years of experience, with strong knowledge of operating room protocols and team collaboration.

The position entails preparing the OR, passing sterile supplies, assisting in complex surgeries, and coordinating equipment and supplies with surgeons and nursing staff in a hospital

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited program.
• 2 years of experience.
• BLS certification (within 30 days of hire/transfer).
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA). NBSTA/NCCT certification required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure supplies, equipment, and instruments are available and ready for each procedure.
• Prepare OR setup and instrument tables; ensure sterility and proper setup.
• Scrub for cases and assist surgeons as directed, following OR protocols.
• Educate and prepare surgical teams; act as resource and preceptor as needed.
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping; assist in surgery with instruments and retractor devices.
• Coordinate with pharmacy and vendors; order supplies and manage equipment quotes.
