Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital is seeking a Surgical Tech, First Assistant for a full-time Day shift in the Main OR. The role includes acting as first assistant to the surgeon and performing duties of the Scrub Tech III with strong anatomy and physiology knowledge to support safe operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Successful completion of an accredited First Assistant training course.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates sterile techniques and instrumentation knowledge for procedures.
• Anticipates and prioritizes needs during procedures.
• Participates in sponge, needle and instrument counts as required.
• Maintains surgical specimens for pathology evaluation.
• Assists in ordering and stocking supplies under supervision.
• Performs under the direct supervision of the operating surgeon.
• Communicates patient condition to RN and surgical team.
• Provides assistance to surgeon across all procedures and specialties.
• Position patient, drape, manage exposure, and assist with wound closure as directed.
