Job Description
Primary Responsibility
The First Ascent Youth Leadership Camp Counselor is a seasonal, temporary position required for one to two weeks a year. The counselor will lead a group of 8-10 high school students through the annual CMC First Ascent Youth Leadership Program, facilitating opportunities and physical activities. Responsibilities include organizing and managing students, ensuring their safety, meeting their individual needs, and providing feedback to the Leadership Coordinator, Facilitators, and others regarding students and program concerns.

Qualifications
Applicants should have sufficient education and experience, such as a High School Diploma/GED and at least one year of related work experience (totaling 2080 hours, equivalent to one year of full-time work), including at least one week of summer camp. Candidates must be college students who have completed their freshman year or higher, or possess measurable related experience demonstrating the necessary skills and abilities.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
Core principles include being welcoming, innovative, and student-focused. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with diverse backgrounds.
Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) or conversational skills are preferred.
The pay rate is $18.71 per hour. Benefits include retirement contributions, paid time off, mental health resources, and tuition benefits. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, in accordance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.

Supervision and Conditions
Reports to the Youth Leadership Camp Facilitator and Admissions Representative. Supervises a group of 8-10 high school students. Must pass background and motor vehicle checks, hold a valid Colorado driver’s license, and adhere to safety policies. May require evening/weekend work, driving, and physical activity in outdoor conditions.
