Job summary

AMD is seeking a highly motivated Firmware Engineering intern/co-op in the San Jose/Santa Clara area. You will contribute to the design, implementation, and validation of firmware for discrete and embedded AMD products, aboard reference hardware, emulation, and pre-silicon environments.

You will learn AGILE processes, participate in reviews, and build documentation while collaborating with teams across software and hardware disciplines.

Qualifications

• You are enrolled in a US-based university pursuing a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of low-level BIOS/firmware or system software development is a plus.
• Experience with C/C++ and hardware architectures is desired.
• Experience with embedded systems, RTOS, and embedded controllers.
• Familiarity with source control, debuggers, compilers, and end-to-end debugging from software to firmware to hardware.
• Understanding of Open-source concepts.
• Experience with HDL/Verilog or FPGA is a plus.
• Linux development environments familiarity.
• Knowledge of graphics/compute pipelines and related architectures.

Responsibilities

• Craft, implement, debug, and validate features on reference hardware and software for AMD’s firmware products.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and project planning.
• Build clear documentation for software produced and maintain it.
• Work on both internal and external platforms and learn AGILE methodologies.
