Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Firmware Engineer to join an Integrated Program Team (IPT) delivering firmware solutions for FPGAs, SOCs, and CPLDs. You will develop HDL-based circuits, build test benches, and drive verification in a lab environment with limited travel.

Requirements include a STEM degree and at least 2 years of digital hardware design and verification, plus active DoD Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

  • STEM degree or advanced degree in a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.
  • Minimum 2 years of digital hardware design and verification experience.
  • Familiarity with interfaces and bus standards (SPI, I2C, PCIe, UART, Gb Ethernet).
  • Experience with testing tools: logic analyzers, high‑speed oscilloscopes, signal generators.

Responsibilities

  • Generate firmware requirements from system architecture.
  • Create firmware architecture documents.
  • Design HDL-based digital circuits that are structured and readable.
  • Build test benches to verify HDL designs.
  • Create constraints for target devices and automate build/test workflows.
  • Verify target device functionality in a lab environment.
  • Travel may be <10% of time.
