Job summary

Arista Networks is seeking a BIOS Software Engineer to join the BIOS team in developing and maintaining CPU firmware, BIOS and boot loader software used in Arista products in Santa Clara, CA. You will bring up new CPUs, validate EOS boot processes, and contribute to features in both proprietary and open source BIOS communities.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in CS/EE/CE with related experience
• Expert knowledge of C; C++ and Python desirable
• Experience in CPU firmware, BIOS and boot loader environments
• Experience bringing up new CPU boards
• Strong debugging and problem-solving in low-level firmware
• Familiarity with Linux kernel architecture desirable
• Understanding of IP networking principles desirable
• Ability to work independently and in small teams

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate and maintain low-level CPU software in Arista products.
• Develop automated tests using C, C++ and Python to validate features.
• Work with hardware engineers and vendors to qualify new CPUs and components.
• Track Linux Kernel developments and identify relevant features for Arista products.
• Contribute features back to upstream BIOS/open source communities.
• Review and contribute to design specs written by others.
• Collaborate with Customer Support Engineers to analyze and fix issues.
• Collaborate with System Test Engineers to diagnose test failures and implement fixes.
• Provide technical leadership across features, projects and tools.
• Mentor new and junior engineers to ramp up in Arista’s environment
