Job summary

Arista Networks is seeking a BIOS software engineer to design, develop, and maintain low-level CPU software across Arista products. You will implement features in BIOS and boot loaders, and collaborate with hardware teams to bring up new CPUs and ensure secure boot processes.

You'll develop automated tests in C, C++, and Python, contribute to Linux kernel-related work, and mentor junior engineers while delivering high-quality firmware and system software.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in CS/EE/CE with required years of experience
• Expert C programming with optional C++ and Python familiarity
• Experience in CPU firmware, BIOS and boot loader environments
• Experience bringing up new CPU boards and test cycles
• Strong debugging and problem-solving in low-level software
• Familiarity with Linux kernel concepts and IP networking principles

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate and maintain low-level CPU software in Arista products
• Develop automated tests using C, C++ and Python
• Collaborate with hardware teams to qualify CPUs and components
• Track Linux Kernel developments and contribute to open source BIOS communities
• Review specifications and mentor junior engineers
• Provide fixes for problems found in customer networks and tests
• Lead projects and document designs and implementations clearly
• Support Customer Support Engineers and System Test Engineers with fixes
