Job summary

Spotsylvania County is seeking Firefighter Recruit candidates: you will train in fire suppression, emergency medical care, and hazardous materials response, with promotion to Firefighter after academy graduation. You may be scheduled to work Sundays through Saturdays as needed and must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Salary is commensurate with time in grade under the Public Safety Step Pay Scale.

Qualifications

• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must successfully complete all components of the County's Fire, Rescue & Emergency Management (FREM) Recruit Academy.
• Must meet NFPA Medical Guidelines as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls for firefighting, EMS, rescue, or hazardous materials incidents.
• Inspect and maintain equipment, vehicles, and station facilities.
• Train to drive and operate fire apparatus and ambulances.
• Engage with the public through safety education and community events.
