Job summary

Storey County Fire Protection District is seeking a Firefighter/Paramedic to respond to fires, medical calls, and hazardous situations across the district. The role includes training staff, directing operations as needed, and maintaining equipment and records.

A Nevada Paramedic certification and a valid driver’s license are required, with pre-employment medical and ongoing training mandatory. The position may involve evening and weekend shifts at various district locations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Paramedic Program and certification as a Paramedic.
• Possess a current Nevada Driver's License.
• Submit to a pre-employment physical examination.
• Experience in firefighting and emergency medical services with a progressive all-risk fire department.
• Advanced degree in fire, health or environmental science would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Responds to fire alarms; operates pumps, ladders, hoses, and related equipment.
• Directs and participates in ventilation, rescues, and removal of hazards.
• May lead incident response as initial incident commander until relieved.
• Train and supervise staff in the absence of Fire Captain; develop lesson plans.
