Job summary

Storey County is seeking an entry level dispatcher to manage emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio communications under the supervision of the Communication Director. The role involves coordinating with Sheriff’s Department, Fire, Ambulance, and Public Works in a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of progressively responsible office experience with computers, data entry, and/or switchboard work.
• Background investigation, drug test and certification requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Process and evaluate 911 calls and other emergency/non-emergency requests for police, fire, and EMS.
• Coordinate communication within the county among Sheriff’s Department, Fire Department, Ambulance Services, and Public Works.
• Collaborate with Storey County and outside agencies as necessary.
• Work in a 24/7 communications center and be willing to flexible hours and variable days.
