Job summary

The City of Burnet Fire Department is hiring Firefighter/Paramedic or Paramedic Only applicants to provide emergency medical care and firefighting services to the Burnet community. Paramedic Only hires will complete Fire Academy after hire.

This full-time role requires responding to medical emergencies, vehicle crashes, public safety incidents, and participating in training, inspections, and community education. Minimum requirements include high school diploma and Paramedic certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Paramedic level certification is required.
• Valid Class B Exempt driver’s license or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Perform firefighting operations and operate equipment.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide paramedic care en route.
• Extricate patients using appropriate tools as needed.
• Transport the sick and injured to medical facilities.
• Maintain department property and equipment; complete reports.
• Participate in public education, inspections, and pre-fire planning.
• Attend continuing education and maintain professional standards.
• Maintain punctuality, reliability, and professional appearance.
