Job summary

The City of Fairfield Fire Department is seeking qualified Firefighter/Paramedics at entry and lateral levels to join a dedicated team providing advanced life support and firefighting services. Applicants must meet California licensure and certification requirements and pass the agency's selection process.

Responsibilities include medical and fire suppression duties, public education, and equipment inspections. A thorough background and medical exam are required prior to appointment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid California Class C Driver's License at hire; license during application acceptable.
• Mobile Intensive Care Certificate (Paramedic) per CA DOH/Solano County ESA required at hire.
• ACLS and PALS certificates required.
• CPAT required unless waived for internal candidates with prior ALS service.
• PHTLS or ITLS card required.
• CPR or BLS card required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to medical emergency calls and provide basic and advanced life support.
• Stabilize victims at the emergency scene.
• Assess illness/injury and establish care priority.
• Render emergency care per Health and Safety Code sections 1480-1485.
• Conduct public education programs.
• Respond with fire department to fires/medical emergencies.
• Operate pumps, lay/align hoses, direct water streams on fires.
• Use extinguishers and firefighting tools.
• Enter burning structures to rescue occupants.
• Assist in salvage operations and scene safety.
• Inspect and service vehicles and equipment.
• Receive and transmit radio/telephone messages.
• Attend department training programs.
• Inspect buildings for fire hazards.
