Job summary

Fairfield County seeks a dedicated firefighter to support incident stabilization, life safety, and property conservation within the county. You will engage in suppression, rescue, and overhaul duties while maintaining equipment and PPE readiness.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED with fire service training, SC Fire Academy certifications, and CPR/First Aid. A valid SC driver's license is required and ongoing training is expected.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED with fire service training or equivalent experience.
• Maintains required certifications issued by the S.C. Fire Academy; CPR and First Aid certifications required.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license (Class E in SC).

Responsibilities

• Performs fire suppression and related incident stabilization tasks.
• Performs search and rescue and life safety tasks as directed.
• Conducts salvage and overhaul to protect property.
• Operates firefighting hand tools, power equipment, and SCBA.
• Promotes fire prevention and educates the public on fire safety.
• Attends drills and external fire service courses as approved.
• Gives tours and participates in public education programs.
• Completes incident, training, and maintenance reports.
