Job summary

City of Watauga seeks Firefighter/Paramedics to operate on a 48/96 shift, performing firefighting and emergency medical services under the Fire Lieutenant. An entrance exam is scheduled for Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at 8:00 AM at the Watauga Fire Department, with PAT to follow. Deadline to apply is Friday, November 13, 2026, by 12:00 PM.

Applicants must be 18–40 at testing, hold a Texas Driver's License and be a U.S. citizen with a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Age: 18+ and under 40 at testing.
• Valid Texas Driver's License.
• U.S. Citizen.
• HS diploma or GED required.
• Must meet one of the listed certification combinations.

Responsibilities

• Assists in removing victims from dangerous situations.
• Provides basic/advanced life support and firefighting at emergency scenes.
• Performs fire fighting, rescue, first aid and life support duties.
• Prepares records and reports of incidents and operations.
• Communicates between shifts and with management and public as needed.
• Checks gear, vehicles, equipment and tools for safe operation.
• Responds to alarms and lays/controls hoses and nozzles.
• Climbs ladders, uses firefighting equipment and tools.
• Operates engines, trucks, ambulances and rescue units safely.
• Familiarizes with box maps and road networks within the district.
• Participates in scheduled training classes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
