Job summary

The City of Morganton is seeking a Firefighter for the Public Safety Department. You will respond to emergencies, assist in fire suppression, rescue operations, and maintain equipment and facilities.

You must meet basic requirements and complete the field-training program after hire. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to obtain a Class B license, OSHA compliance, and a fitness assessment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must obtain a class B driver's license.
• Must meet OSHA requirements.
• Successful completion of field-training program after hire.
• Physical fitness/agility assessment required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency fire, medical, vehicle accident and related situations.
• Participate in fire suppression, vehicle extraction and rescue operations.
• Maintain equipment, facilities and grounds; conduct inspections and maintenance.
• Assist with preplanning, inspections, and smoke alarm installations.
• 24-hour on/48-hour off schedule.
