The McFarland Fire & Rescue Department is seeking candidates for immediate hiring and establishing an eligibility list for full-time Firefighter/Paramedic. The Firefighter/Paramedic functions in all capacities of the ambulance crew during medical incidents and supplements the engine crews during fire incidents by being assigned to staff the ambulance, staff car, or engine. Additionally, Firefighter/Paramedics are assigned ancillary tasks within the Fire & Rescue Department, including equipment readiness checks, clerical work, maintenance, cleaning, fire inspections, and other duties.
Paramedics without firefighter certification are encouraged to apply and would be required to obtain Firefighter II certification during the probationary period. If a candidate is required to obtain firefighter certifications during the probationary period, the associated costs will be covered by the Village of McFarland, and the individual would be in pay status.
The Firefighter/Paramedic is planned to work a 48/96-hour rotating schedule with earned days off to maintain a 48-hour average work week. An earned day off is awarded every three weeks. The normal start time is 6:00 am, with overtime work required as needed to ensure ambulance coverage.
The annual salary range is $63,753 to $82,329. Experienced applicants may be offered a lateral transfer of salary and vacation.
