Job summary

Vets Hired in the United States seeks a Fire and Rescue Technician I (Firefighter/EMT) to provide emergency medical services, firefighting, rescue operations, and fire prevention.

You will respond to incidents, operate equipment, deliver medical care, participate in training, and support community emergency response while adhering to departmental procedures and safety standards. Applicants must meet minimum age, license, education, and screening requirements and be prepared for 24‑hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age by hire date.
• Valid driver's license.
• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• Ability to pass the written examination.
• Ability to pass CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test).
• Ability to pass polygraph, psychological, medical, and panel interview evaluations.
• Ability to pass criminal background, driving record, education, and other required screenings.
• Ability to work 24-hour shifts and perform physically demanding emergency response duties.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire, medical, rescue, and other emergency incidents.
• Provide emergency medical care and basic life support services.
• Perform firefighting, rescue, and hazard mitigation operations.
• Operate and maintain firefighting, rescue, and EMS equipment.
• Participate in fire prevention and public education activities.
• Complete required training and maintain professional certifications.
• Work assigned shifts and duty stations as required.
• Maintain readiness for emergency response.
• Follow department policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Perform other emergency response and operational duties as assigned.
