Job summary

City of North Myrtle Beach seeks a dedicated firefighter to protect lives and property under general supervision. You will respond to alarms, perform inspections, and maintain equipment while performing EMT duties.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, NFPA 1001 Firefighter II, EMT certification, and a valid SC NC driver’s license as applicable. Physical readiness and ongoing training are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must obtain and maintain NFPA 1001, Firefighter II.
• Must obtain EMT, National Registry and SCDHEC certifications.
• SC Class E or NC Class B driver's license depending on residency.
• Pass NFPA 1582 Physical.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, controls and extinguishes fires and protects life and property.
• Receives and responds to fire alarms and emergency calls with readiness to act.
• Performs fire inspections and pre-fire planning and conducts minor vehicle maintenance.
• Responds to medical emergencies and performs duties of an EMT.
