Job summary

York County Government in South Carolina is seeking a Firefighter II to join our team. This 40-hour weekly, non-exempt position performs a range of fire suppression, EMS, and rescue duties across fire scenes and on emergency medical responses.

The role requires driving and operating fire vehicles, hydraulics knowledge, and on-scene operations. A High School diploma, SC FF certification, EMT, and valid driver’s license are required, with a strong commitment to training and community safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license Class E; Class B preferred.
• SC Firefighter certification required.
• First Aid/CPR certifications required.
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) required.

Responsibilities

• Suppress fires at scenes, including laying/connecting hoses and directing water.
• Enter/search/extricate individuals from burning structures.
• Maintain and inspect fire vehicles and equipment.
• Provide basic/advanced life support and EMS care.
• Participate in training and community safety programs.
• Complete incident documentation and department records.
• Perform daily checks of personal fire suppression gear.
