Job description

IOWA SPEEDWAY

Located near Des Moines, Iowa Speedway joined the NASCAR family of tracks in 2013. Known as the "Fastest Short Track on the Planet," Iowa Speedway hosts two major race weekends annually, featuring the ARCA Menards Series and the NTT INDYCAR Series. The track was designed by NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace.

Iowa Speedway is hiring certified fire rescue professionals to interact with guests and racing team participants during events, performing fire and EMS response functions. This is a part-time seasonal position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform Fire and EMS response functions.
  • Work shifts ranging from 6 to 16 hours depending on the event.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and work ethic.
  • Respond to emergencies, including but not limited to Pit Road, Garages, or On-Track Firefighting.
  • Clean and inspect equipment and apparatus after responses.
  • Inspect equipment and notify supervisors of any defects.
  • Keep fire trucks and equipment in a clean, orderly condition.
  • Participate in training and instruction sessions.
  • Acquire thorough knowledge of the racetrack, including station numbers, emergency districts, buildings, water supply, and hazards.
  • Adhere to track-specific and NASCAR policies and procedures.
Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred; or 1-3 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Current state Fire I and/or II certification preferred.
  • Current BLS CPR card preferred.
  • State EMT or Paramedic License preferred.
  • EVOC certificate or equivalent.
  • Valid state driver's license and successful driving record check.
  • Mandatory annual training and online courses required.
  • Preference for candidates with public safety or EMS agency affiliation.
Other Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum age 18 years.
  • Strong communication skills, including report writing.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Familiarity with the National Incident Management System.
  • Adherence to substance abuse policies.
  • Reliable transportation.
