Sumter County Economic Development is seeking a dedicated Firefighter/EMT to safeguard lives and property across the county. You will respond to alarms, perform firefighting, and provide emergency medical care under the supervision of the Lieutenant.

Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, training, disaster response support, record-keeping, and public fire prevention outreach. Required: Firefighter II, EMT certification, Florida driver’s license, and NFPA/SCBA standards compliance.

Qualificações

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
• Florida Driver’s license of the correct class and good driving record.
• Florida Firefighter II certification as per Florida State Statute 633.406(1)(a).
• EMT-B or EMT-P certification as per Florida State Statute 401.27.
• Current CPR (American Heart Association or approved) and ACLS if Paramedic.
• Must obtain NIMS certifications within six months of employment.

Responsabilidades

• Responds to fire alarms and operates emergency response vehicles and apparatus safely.
• Performs fire suppression activities and assists in rescue operations.
• Administers emergency medical care to ill or injured persons.
• Performs salvage and overhaul operations at fire scenes.
• Maintains and checks firefighting equipment and performs routine facility/apparatus cleaning.
• Attends training sessions for firefighting, rescue, EMS care, and related areas.
• Prepares routine records and reports.
• Supports disaster response and post-disaster recovery and prevention activities.
• Participates in fire prevention and public safety outreach.
