Job summary

Venus Fire Department is seeking a dedicated firefighter to protect life and property through fire suppression, EMS, and prevention duties. You will operate apparatus, perform rescue and patient care, and work under supervision to support incident response.

Responsibilities include training, inspections, equipment maintenance, and participating in emergency drills. Eligible candidates must meet the licensing and certification requirements listed and be prepared for demanding shift work.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Texas Class B exempt driver's license or obtain within 6 months.
• TCFP Basic Structural Firefighter certification.
• Texas DSHS EMT-Basic certification.
• NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform fire suppression tasks including driving apparatus and laying hose.
• Administer basic life support and trauma care as needed.
• Participate in ongoing fire drills and trainings.
• Respond to fire calls and operate radios and communication systems.
• Inspect buildings, hydrants, and structures for fire prevention.
• Maintain fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities.
• Assist in training new personnel and department supervisors.
• Conduct rescues and salvage operations as required.
• Prepare reports and participate in fire prevention activities.
