Job summary

The City of Ventura is seeking certified Lateral Firefighter-Paramedics to join our Fire Department. In this role, you will be assigned to an engine company, delivering emergency medical services and performing a wide range of fire service duties, including fire suppression, rescue operations, hazmat response, station and equipment maintenance, fire prevention, and public education.

This is a shift-based position requiring availability on nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or G.E.D. is required.
• A current California Paramedic license (EMT-P) and CPR certification.
• CPAT certificate required for physical fitness evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver emergency medical services per Ventura EMS protocols, assess injuries, administer care, and transport to facilities.
• Train staff on basic and advanced lifesaving techniques.
• Respond to fires, medical alarms, rescues; operate hoses, pumps, ladders.
• Maintain and repair stations and equipment; participate in drills and public education.
