Job summary

City of Santa Fe Springs is seeking a dedicated firefighter to perform duties at fire, rescue, medical, and hazmat incidents while supporting education and training across the department.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, NFPA 1403 coursework, and progression toward Firefighter I-II, EMT-B, and other credentials within three years. Valid NC driver’s license and reciprocity for out-of-state credentials are needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and NFPA 1403 coursework on hire.
• Must obtain Firefighter I-II, EMT-B, Rescue Technician, and HazMat Responder within 3 years.
• Valid NC driver's license; reciprocity for out-of-state certifications as needed.
• Knowledge of firefighting techniques, EMS, and safety procedures required.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled tasks at fires, rescues, medical emergencies, and hazmat incidents.
• Assist with fire and life safety education and departmental training.
• Maintain department facilities and grounds; contribute to pre-fire planning.
• Possibly serve as Fire Engineer or Fire Captain in acting capacity as directed.
• Engage in continuing education and obtain certifications to maintain proficiency.
