Job summary

The City of Hollister Fire Department is seeking qualified applicants for Firefighter/EMT through an open-competitive recruitment. Veterans and other public-service candidates are encouraged to apply, with an eligibility list to fill future vacancies.

The role requires California Firefighter I & II, EMT certification, CICCS readiness, and driving and pump operation skills. Lateral transfers are considered, and extensive training is provided to prepare responders for emergencies and life-safety

Qualifications

• California State Firefighter I and II certifications required.
• Graduate of ARTP Fire Academy as approved by the California Office of State Fire.
• Associates degree desirable, bachelor's degree desirable.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire, emergency medical calls as a member of a fire suppression crew.
• Perform primary and secondary search procedures for fire and disaster victims; remove and rescue trapped victims.
• Apply Basic Life Support (BLS) and assess patients on scene to determine treatment.
• Drive the fire apparatus and position it for safe incident operations.
• Operate pumping equipment and support firefighting operations.
• Inspect and maintain rescue equipment, apparatus, and hydrants.
• Provide fire prevention inspections and community safety education.
