Job summary

City of Santa Fe Springs is seeking a firefighter to perform technical, specialized work supporting fire, rescue, and disaster response. You will protect life and property, assist with prevention, and maintain equipment readiness.

The role requires HS diploma or GED, Georgia firefighter certifications, HazMat, and CPR/AED. You will respond to fires and accidents, operate equipment, educate the public, and document activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; must attain Georgia firefighter certifications during recruit school.
• State certifications include NPQ Firefighter I & II, HazMat Awareness/Operation, and Heart Saver First Aid/CPR/AED.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate fire apparatus and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls, evaluate scenes, and direct actions as needed.
• Provide fire suppression, rescue, and basic medical first aid support.
• Operate fire apparatus, tools, and equipment; maintain readiness and safety.
• Locate water sources, lay hose lines, and assist with nozzle work as directed.
• Promote fire safety in the community and maintain records and reports.
