Fire Technology (Adjunct/Part‑time)

Salary: $77.44 – $98.98 per hour

Job Type: Part‑time

Description

In order to create a qualified applicant pool, Sierra College conducts interviews for teaching positions throughout the year. Applications are kept in the hiring pool for two years. The Division Dean or Department Chair will contact you directly for an interview when a position becomes available.

Functions and Tasks

Curriculum Development – Review and evaluate curriculum, coordinate with part‑time instructors, revise course descriptions, propose curriculum changes, ensure compliance with laws and standards, represent the department in professional forums.

Lecture/Laboratory Preparation – Review textbooks, prepare lesson plans and syllabi, create materials, coordinate with publishers, order books, stay current on equipment.

Lecture/Laboratory Presentation – Deliver clear and logical instruction, use examples, provide objectives, employ visual aids, distribute handouts, encourage participation, maintain order, support student learning.

Student Performance Evaluation – Develop quizzes and exams, monitor exams, grade, advise students on performance, refer to services, maintain records.

Shared Governance Participation – Attend and serve on departmental and college committees, participate in curriculum development, represent the department on campus‑wide bodies.

Ancillary Student Services – Provide career and degree counseling, hold office hours, model citizenship, participate in award ceremonies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Any Bachelor’s or Master’s degree AND two (2) years of professional experience, OR any Associate degree AND six (6) years of professional experience.
  • Part‑time/Adjunct teaching experience in a similar field.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary determined by the District’s faculty salary schedule based on years of experience and level of education. Benefits include membership in the State Teachers Retirement System, sick leave, and other leave provisions.
