Job summary

Contemporary Amperex Technology USA Inc is looking for a Fire & System Safety Engineer who will lead safety engineering for Grid-Scale Energy Storage products in CA, TX, and NY. This role manages hazards from energy storage systems to the grid-connected site and ensures compliance with safety standards.

The ideal candidate will have direct experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems and a strong understanding of UL and NFPA codes. A comprehensive benefits package is offered alongside competitive salary.

Qualifications

Direct experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and knowledge of lithium-ion battery behavior.
Proficiency in UL 9540 and UL 9540A testing standards.
Ability to translate complex system failure data into actionable design improvements.

Responsibilities

Lead the implementation of NFPA 855 for stationary energy storage systems.
Manage the application of NFPA 68 and NFPA 69.
Conduct deep-dive technical evaluations, including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and FMEA.
Coordinate with external safety firms to validate technical assessments.
Act as the technical lead in customer meetings to secure necessary permits.
