Job summary

Johnson Controls in Houston, TX, is seeking a field service technician to service Portable Fire Extinguishers, Kitchen Hood Systems and Suppression Gas Systems at customer sites. You will read blueprints and manuals, manage daily service calls, and work with various fire suppression systems.

The role requires 3+ years of relevant experience, an extinguisher license, and strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with Portable Fire Extinguishers, Kitchen Hood Systems & Suppression Gas Systems.
• Extinguisher License required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Outstanding customer-facing service and problem-solving abilities.
• PC skills including Windows, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Preferred certifications ANSUL, Kiddie PyroChem.
• Valid US driver’s license.

What you will do

Perform service and repairs on Portable Fire Extinguishers, Kitchen Hood Systems & Suppression Gas Systems in addition to other related building system products at customer sites. Service, troubleshoot and install many different manufacturers including Simplex and ANSUL. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational product manuals. Manage daily service call, customer activity and program system products. You will work with clean agent systems, dry chemical systems, and special hazards.

How you will do it

Assist customers with all questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner. Participation in an on-call rotation for Emergency Service. Performs inspections of Suppression Gas Systems based on contract requirements. Inspect customer systems. Use of Smart Phone and Equipment May include government work

What we look for

• Extinguisher License

• Preferred Any Manufacturer certifications is a plus; ANSUL, Kiddie PyroChem

Hiring hourly range

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $25-40 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
