Job summary

Johnson Controls in the United States is seeking a Fire Suppression Pre-Sales Engineer to design medium to high complexity fire suppression solutions that meet customer requirements and project objectives.

You will work with sales, project managers, and engineering to develop layouts with AutoCAD and BIM, prepare estimates, and ensure compliance with standards. You will also mentor junior engineers and stay current with industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in fire protection engineering, mechanical/electrical engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in fire suppression, life safety, or related systems design.
• Strong ability to design medium to high complexity fire suppression systems.

Responsibilities

• Design medium to high complexity fire suppression system solutions in support of sales opportunities.
• Develop system layouts, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation using AutoCAD, BIM, and other engineering design tools.
• Review customer requirements, project specifications, and applicable industry standards to create compliant solutions.
• Collaborate with sales teams to provide technical support during customer meetings, presentations, and bid submissions.
• Produce accurate engineering estimates and technical proposals to support project delivery.
• Conduct design reviews and quality control checks to ensure engineering deliverables meet company standards.
• Liaise with customers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to optimise solution design and project outcomes.
• Support value engineering initiatives to improve system performance and cost efficiency.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate engineers.
• Stay current with fire suppression technologies, regulations, and industry best practices.
