Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler System Designer in New Jersey to handle NFPA 13/14/20/24 compliant design work and BIM placement on engineered drawings. You will read construction documents, create drawings with HydraCAD, and perform hydraulic calculations while coordinating with estimators, field crews, and fabrication teams.

• Two to five years of fire protection system layout experience is required.
• Ability to read and interpret fire protection design drawings and plans.
• Proficiency with wet, dry, and pre-action systems and NFPA standards.
• Experience with underground piping and 3D coordination is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction documents and plans.
• Design automatic fire systems, including pumps and various system types.
• Create detailed drawings with HydraCAD and place systems on engineered drawings using BIM.
• Conduct field surveys and assist with installation issues.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and prepare stock lists for fabrication.
• Ensure compliance with codes and AHJ requirements.
• Coordinate pre-construction with other trades.

THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler System Designer. This is a key position for our growing team that requires knowledge and attention to detail in all aspects of NFPA 13,14, 20 & 24. This position will work closely with our estimating, project management, field, and fabrication teams.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (and doing well!)

• Read and interpret construction documents and plans.
• Fire sprinkler design of automatic fire systems, including fire pumps, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and maintain individual schedule and completion dates.
• Create detailed drawings through the use of HydraCAD software.
• Use BIM to design system onto engineered drawings.
• Conduct field surveys and assist field personnel with design-related installation issues.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and detail stock lists for fabrication.
• Ensure work complies with applicable codes and AHJ requirements.
• Pre-construction coordination with other trades.
• Identify changes in projects that impact cost, schedule, or labor requirements.

What We Like About You

$43-$55 per hour, final offer based on experience
