Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking a skilled sprinkler systems designer in the United States, Pennsylvania region. The role involves creating CAD drawings using AutoSprink and HydraCAD, performing hydraulic calculations, and ensuring designs meet NFPA codes and client specs.

You will lead a design team, review work for quality, and coordinate with sales and project managers to optimize designs under tight deadlines. A NICET III certification and strong NFPA knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years sprinkler layout and hydraulic calculation experience.
• NICET III in water-based systems layout.
• Ability to create detailed CAD drawings.
• Experience with fire sprinkler design software.
• Ability to read fire sprinkler design drawings.
• Proficient in NFPA 13, 14, 20 & 24.
• Ability to read project drawings and specifications.
• Strong leadership and time management skills; multi-tasking.
• Working understanding of fire sprinkler design.
• Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Design sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA and project specifications.
• Participate in the review process with other design team members and drafters, as requested by management.
• Create detailed drawings using CAD software (AutoSprink, HydraCAD, etc) and perform hydraulic calculations.
• Review all designs before submitting for approval to ensure they meet Sciens quality standard and code requirements.
• Follow all Sciens policies and procedures during daily work activities.
• Work independently and lead a team to complete all tasks and related design functions. Routinely work with sales and project managers to ensure the most efficient design while maintaining the highest quality standards.
• Assist and provide feedback to the sales and project managers for organizing, planning, and prioritizing work.
• Assist management in developing and implementing a quality service program to increase efficiency and proficiencies for the design and engineering department.
• Assist management by advising drafters to ensure that their goals and objectives are met.
• Ensure design complies with applicable codes and AHJ requirements.
