Job summary

Johnson Controls in Lenexa, KS is seeking a Field Service Technician focused on life-safety inspections of sprinkler systems. You will perform inspections, tests, and maintenance to meet customer expectations.

You will work with low-voltage wiring, read blueprints, document service activities, and complete acknowledgments using laptops or paper. The role requires 5–10 years of sprinkler experience, licenses, travel, and a strong safety mindset; training and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years documented experience in sprinkler systems.
• Able to obtain and retain licenses required by National, State and Local codes.
• Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and manuals.
• Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
• Experience with wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and foam systems.
• Demonstrates troubleshooting aptitude and repair ability.
• Capable of physical labor up to 50–70 lbs.
• Able to climb ladders and work in confined spaces up to 40 feet.
• Willing to travel and work on-call, nights and weekends.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Able to pass pre-employment background and drug test.
• Preferred: Backflow certification, NICET Level II certification, repair experience

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, testing, servicing, installing and preventative maintenance of life safety product lines.
• Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices for operation of equipment.
• Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding via laptops or hard copy.
• Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.
• Input, retrieve and archive inspection documentation via computer.
• Make minor repairs and programming changes under supervision.
• Complete assigned inspections on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
